Parent-Proof notes for Maria Magdalena Ketner 5G GM
This from her find-a-grave memorial.
“Maria was the wife of Johann Tobias.
A marriage confirmation to John "Tobig" on September 21, 1779 was extracted from the church records of Christ Lutheran Church, located in Stouchsburg, Berks County, PA. Magdalena was also named as the wife of John Tobias in her husband's administration papers dated September 30, 1809, and named as one of three co-executors by the courts. These papers are on record and can be found in the Berks County courthouse, Adm. 7, page 114. Some years later Magdalena moved out of Berks County into Schuylkill, then Dauphin County, where she appeared as head of household in the 1820 US PA census records residing in Lykens Twp., with one male living with her, approximating her age at abt. 60. On the next census "line" is Magdalena’s son Joseph and his young family.”
The memorial says she died in Mifflin Township, Lycoming County but leaves that little tidbit totally unexplained.
Ancestry tree “Jeanan and John O Richter” has link to will and some Burgert on George Michael Ketner (Marias father?) and his parents Johannes Ketner and Veronica Burkhart, apparently the immigrants. This idea that her father was George Michael and his wife Maria Catarna Friederich is all over WT, but no evidence of it anywhere.

Parent-Proof notes for John (Spouse 1)
According to his find-a-grave memorial, he was the son of Ludwig and Sophia (Emerich) Tobias. His memorial says he was born in 1765 but can’t be true, can it, if he married in 1769?
Death and Find-a-Grave notes for John (Spouse 1)
After John died, on 9 Nov 1810, Nicholas Klein filed a petition to the Berks County Orphans Court stating: “that the said John Tobias died about two years since leaving a widow named Magdalena and issue eight children to wit: Maria wife of Henry Yerger, Elizabeth, Daniel, Samuel, Magdalena, Joseph, John and Sarah the last six named are minors and that the intestate died seized….land in Bern Township….containing 229 acres.”
There is a memorial for John on find-a-grave. There is no tombstone photo. So it is not clear where the dates 1765-1809 come from. A biography of him is given on his memorial:
“John is listed as a son of Ludwig Tobias (Sr.) in his father's last will and testament, probated on November 24, 1810, even though he preceded his father in death. He is referred to as a "yoeman" or independent farmer in "Letters of Administration" which were recorded upon his death. John died intestate.
-------------------------------------------------
According to history written about the Dauphin county branch of this family, John accidentally died from a fall from a barn in Bern Twp., Berks County, PA. By 1820 his widow and children (all but one) had resettled into Lykens Valley, Dauphin County, PA. This information was found in the Biographical Encyclopedia of Dauphin County, by Runk & Company, publishers, 1896, pg. 1132. A "Letter of Administration" is on file with the Register of Wills for Berks County, PA, dated September 30, 1809, naming Magdalena Tobias (the widow), son Daniel, and son-in-law Henry Yeager as administrators to his estate. Together they were required to put up a bond in the amount of ten thousand dollars and give a perfect accounting of the inventory of the estate of John Tobias. This accounting was registered on March 5, 1811. Information on the above came from the following source: INDEX of BERKS COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA, WILLS AND ADMINISTRATION RECORDS 1752-1850, compiled by Richard T. and Mildred C. Williams; Published by Richard T. and Mildred C. Williams, Danboro, Pennsylvania 18916, 1973. John's children and their spouses are listed after him in his bio., establishing their names. This information taken from a family "sketch" of the Tobias family as a part of the publication: "A COMPREHENSIVE HISTORY OF THE TOWN OF GRATZ PENNSYLVANIA", by The Gratz Historical Society, published 1997, pgs. 561 and 562.
