Parent-Proof notes for Elizabeth Dreisbach
Sat Dec 9, 1876 Carbon Advocate. “On Monday a week ago the ld and venerable father Dreisbach, who lives with Henry Mertz” [celebrated his 80th birthday.] Then a 21 May 1881 article indicated Daniel Dreisbach died at the home of his son-in-law Henry Mertz.
Birth, Parent-Proof, Designation notes for Henry W (Spouse 1)
We know Henry as the son of David from his presence in his father’s household in the 1850 Census. He is designated H6a2a.
Relocated and Census Tracking notes for Henry W (Spouse 1)
It is the other names in his household, such as Dreisbach, as well as his, Eliza and their children that makes it clear that he first lived in Oley Township in 1860 and then moved to Carbon County.

A series of Carbon County land records would seem to indicate that Henry experienced some financial difficulties not too long after moving to Carbon County. In 1871, all his property was sold off to pay his debts and after that several very small tracts of land were sold to his wife Elizabeth, including one repossessed from the couple by the Building and Loan Society and then sold back to just Elizabeth.
Death and Find-a-Grave notes for Henry W (Spouse 1)
Henry and his wife Eliza are on find-a-grave. The memorial for him says he was the son of David Mertz and Caroline Scholl.
