Henry A was the son of Daniel and Hannah Huffington per his death certificate. It is hard to be sure of that from Census, but I go with the death certificate. He is designated U1a1.

When was Henry really born? He was age 14 [1836] in 1850, 22 [1838] in 1860, 36 [1834] in 1870 and 39 [1841] in 1880. But his birth certificate and his tombstone say 1831.

How old was his mother, Hannah? She was reported as 23 [1827] in 1850, 49 [1811] in 1860, 50 [1820] in 1870 and 60 [1820] in 1880. All of them except for 1860 would seem to prohibit her having a son in 1831. And even if we believe she was born in about 1820, that would seem to mean she was quite young for even most of the later suggested dates for who Henry was born.

Considering all this conflicting evidence and the fact that Henry did not live with his parents in 1850 but instead was listed with his Uncle Jonas, I think may suggest that he was born perhaps in the 1836 or so period to a mother who was quite young and maybe for that reason was more or less given to Jonas to raise.

Henry is on find-a-grave and his memorial says he was the son of Daniel and Hannah Buffington and that he married Sarah Harner.
