Parent-Proof notes for 6G GM Elizabeth
Her maiden name is not known. It seems to me, based on the fact that we know the names of all the families of the West River Monthly Meeting and that there were many intermarriages among them, that hers was a name that has already been mentioned in some context with this family. I think I would recognize her name, but it has eluded researchers.
My Comments notes for 6G GM Elizabeth
She married second in 1719 James Powell.
Parent-Proof notes for Edward (Spouse 1)
His birth was recorded at the West River Monthly Meeting. And he was named in his father’s will and inherited several properties previously owned by his father including half of Poplar Knowle and all of Talbott’s Vineyard.
My Comments notes for Edward (Spouse 1)
Edward died at about age 36. His father Edward had died at about age 31 and his grandfather Richard may have died at a younger age than that. The early Talbotts were not what you would call hearty stock.
Not long after his death, Edward’s wife Eliza appealed to the West River Monthly Meeting saying that she and her husband had many times discussed that they were sorry they did not marry “amongst their friends” and that upon his death bed he came back to God. I guess she hoped she could get Edward reinstated among the Quakers even after his death.
Children Names notes for Edward (Spouse 1)
His will was written 25 Mar 1718 and proved 3 Jul 1718. He mentioned wife Eliza, sons John, Edward and Richard. He offers his brother John the right to buy the remainder of Poplar Knowle. He mentioned daughters Eliza, Sarah and Mary. And he mentions one other child: that his wife now goes with -- i.e. not yet born.
