My Comments notes for Basil Hurst
In 1820, because Basil Hurst owed money to Thomas Hurst, Benedict Hurst and Abraham Cullins (the Cullins name again, his cousin?), his lands were seized by the Sheriff of Baltimore County and put up to auction at which the highest bidder was Robert Grimes who then assigned his rights to Shadrach Hurst, of the City of Baltimore, who then paid off Basil’s debts and took possession of the lands. These were three tracts of land, one of which had been conveyed to Basil by Bennett Hurst in 1795 and the other two originally conveyed by Bennett Hurst to Shadrach Hurst and then conveyed by Shadrach Hurst to Basil Hurst in 1801.

Basil’s name comes up again when in 1840, after his decease before 11 Jun 1839, a complaint by Jacob Shamberger and John Wisner against David Hurst, Bennet Hurst and others resulted in the forced sale of Basil’s land in Baltimore.
