It seems to me that Elizabeth must first have married Samuel Kessler since that is the order they are listed by Rossiter but also based on the 1850 Census listing for Elizabeth.

The Ella Rossiter article lists Elizabeth as a daughter of Jacob and Nancy and says she married Samuel Kessler and had children James and and Charles and married Huliny Hettrick and had children Francis, Thomas and Zacariah.

1850. Jacob Hummel age 68 lives with La B (?) Hedrick 40 and Elizabeth 45 -- their children Margaret F 11, Thomas J 7 and Zacharia 3. Also present is Frederick Ren (?) 18 and J W Kessler 23. I assume that J W Kessler is Elizabeth’s son James by her first marriage.
