Parent-Proof notes for Elias Hartman
A brief biography of him appears in the DeKalb Co Il Biographical Dictionary. It says he was born in Northampton County 27 Oct 1810 to John and Regina (Baer) Hartman. And it adds that when Elias was eight years of age, the family moved to Luzerne County. That book was published in the 1880’s, 1883 I think (hard to read the exact date).
So while this genre of things (county histories) are not always reliable, I think the fact that Elias was still alive when the book was published as well that the little detail about the family moving to Luzerne County fits what I already know, I think it it accurate.
