Obituary: “The Rev. Sterling Palmer Martz, 91, of Winfield, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011. Born on July 31, 1920, in Malta, Northumberland County, he was a son of Clarence and Bertha (Bohner) Martz. In April, 1944, he married his high school sweetheart, Mary Henrietta Phillips. In November 1954, their only child, Valerie, was born. He was widowed in 2005. His daughter, Valerie, lives in Kintnersville. Sterling also is survived by a brother, Russell, and his wife, Pat, of Chambersburg; a niece, Sylvia; a nephew, Kevin; and another nephew, W. Roy Phillips Jr.”
