Birth, Parent-Proof, Designation notes for Josiah B Martz (G1a2e)
Josiah was the main heir in his father’s will. It was Josiah to whom all the releases were given in that 1871 land deed, the other of William’s heirs giving their consent. The problem is that both Nicholas and William had a son Josiah, so which was William’s son? Based on where he lived and where he was buried, it is clear this Josiah was William’s son. He is designated G1a2e.
Relocated and Census Tracking notes for Josiah B Martz (G1a2e)
Josiah was listed in the 1870 and 1880 Census in Salem Township where his father William also had lived. His widowed mother lives with him, another evidence that I have sorted out the two Josiah’s correctly.
Parent-Proof notes for Amanda Margaret (Spouse 1)
Per find-a-grave, she was the daughter of Peter and Sarah (Shaffer) Earnest — though the person who put that there used a lot of Internet family trees as his sources.
Find-a-Grave notes for Amanda Margaret (Spouse 1)
She is on find-a-grave, buried beside her first husband Josiah. Her tombstone gives her name as Amanda Simpson, the implication being she married Simpson second.
