Richard J Martz found the notice in a local newspaper dated 10 Sep 1833 that Susan Martz, daughter of Peter, married Jonathan Pursel. He also found the accounting of Peter Purcell on the estate of Elizabeth Martz that payments were made to Jonathan Purcell in right of his wife. The newspaper calls him Peter Martz, Esq.

I was able to track Jonathan and Susan to Indianapolis in the 1850 and 1860 Census. This is where Susan’s brother Henry K also moved at about the same time. Susan is buried in the Crown Hill Cemetery where we also find her brother Henry K. She died in 1873 and from Census was born about 1815.

Jonathan and Susan had a son Peter Martz Pursell whose name I found on the Indianapolis marriage record of his daughter, Susan Gay Pursell.

From the birthplaces of their children, Susan and Jonathan moved to Indianapolis in about 1842.

Susan Pursell is buried at Crown Hill Cemetery in Section 16, Lot 3. In that same location, we find I H Purcell buried Feb 18, 1880. I strongly suspect I H is Jonathan who was listed in the 1865 Indianapolis City Directory as Jonathan H Pursell..
