Parent-Proof notes for Eva Fetterolf
She married second Charles Miller on 29 Dec 1874 after Cornelius died.
Birth, Parent-Proof, Designation notes for Cornelius (Spouse 1)
I first knew Cornelius as the grandson of Abraham because the tombstone of his grandfather has engraved on it that it was placed by his grandson (hard to read but that is what I think it says) Cornelius. Subsequently, I have been able to document that Abraham Sr had a son Abraham Jr who had a son Cornelius. He is designated P4c2a.
Relocated and Census Tracking notes for Cornelius (Spouse 1)
In 1850, it would seem that both of Cornelius’ parents have died.

Cornelius Martz was age 8 living in Roaring Creek, Montour County with the Millard family, Lydia Millard age 42. You would think Cornelius was living with relatives of some sort. A first thought was that Lydia was his mother, and that could be the case, but she is on find-a-grave (in the same cemetery as Abraham, Cornelius’ grandfather) and it seems that there is a lot of information about her own family three. She was maiden name Houck. There is no mention, not even a hint, of any Martz connection there.

Lydia and her husband are buried in the same cemetery as Cornelius’ grandfather Abraham. A wild guess would be that Abraham Jr. married Lydia’s sister and therefore Cornelius had gone to live with his Aunt Lydia after his own parents died.

Lydia’s husband, William, died in 1858 and she herself in 1863. Maybe she felt unable to take care of Cornelius any longer so in 1860, we find Cornelius now living with the Helwig family. A younger Lydia Millard age 19, same age as Cornelius, was living with them.

Finally in 1870, Cornelius was married to Eva and they had two daughters.
Death and Find-a-Grave notes for Cornelius (Spouse 1)
Cornelius is on find-a-grave 1842-1871. He was listed with wife Eva and daughter Emma in the 1870 Census.
