Birth, Parent-Proof, Designation notes for John Martz (H6b1)
A descendant of his sent me his birth certificate — a German fraktur — giving his date of birth, place of birth and names of his parents, a wonderful find.
He is designated H6b1.

He moved to Huntingdon County, Indiana.
Death and Find-a-Grave notes for John Martz (H6b1)
There is a memorial for him on find-a-grave. The person who created it didn’t do the arithmetic right and computed his birth date as 28 Aug 1815 from his date of death and age as stated on his tombstone. But the arithmetic actually confirms 26 Aug from his birth certificate. I submitted an edit and got it corrected.
Known Sons notes for John Martz (H6b1)
In the 1850 Census, he had two sons. One was Daniel born about 1844. He was still with his father in the 1860 Census and then disappears. Despite the fact that the family had moved to Indiana, I believe Daniel died in 1870 and is the Daniel (1844-1870) buried in Mahoning County, OH.
The other:
H6b1a John born 1850
