NamePhilip Mertz
Birth, Parent-Proof, Designation notes for Philip Mertz
He was listed in 1808 as a son of Maria, deceased wife of Henry Mertz. He is designated N3a1.
I think it is a safe bet he was the Henry Martz listed in Brunswick Township in the 1820 Census, age 26-45. And it’s possible he was the Henry Matz listed in the same place in 1830, age 40-49. The problem being there people named Matz present in Schuylkill County in that time period but I have found no evidence there was a Philip Matz.
In 1830, assuming it was indeed Henry Martz, he had a son age 10-15. So it is just a guess that the Henry Martz, age 33, who just appeared in West Brunswick Township in 1850 was Philip’s son.
Philip is designated N3a1, his presumed son Henry N3a1a.
