Parent-Proof notes for Amanda Sell
Amanda’s death certificate says she was the daughter of Nathan Sell and Sarah Osman. Indeed, in 1860, Amanda Sell age 11 lived with Nathan Sell age 40 in North Whitehall. And then in 1900, Amanda Mertz age 50 lived with Nathan Sell age 80 and also Lizzie Mertz age 19 and George Mertz 16. (Somehow Joseph N and George are the same person).

Her death certificate says she was to be buried at Jordan Reformed but I don’t see her on find-a-grave.
Birth, Parent-Proof, Designation notes for Tilghman (Spouse 1)
Tilghman Mertz (1816-1892) was listed in a record of deaths of Jordan UCC Church in Allentown. The record said his parents were Joseph and Elizabeth (Arner) Mertz. Various documents associated with the death of his father confirm this assertion — and that Tilghman’s wife was Amanda Sell. He is designated G1b1a.
Relocated and Census Tracking notes for Tilghman (Spouse 1)
Joseph died in 1835 and so we then find Tilghman in the 1840, 1850, 1860 Census in all cases seemingly not yet married and seemingly with his mother Elizabeth. In all cases in North Whitehall.

1840. From tick marks, I believe Tilghman is unmarried and lived with his widowed Mother.

1850. Tilghmen lived in North Whitehall. Living in his household was Elizabeth Mortz, 58 — I believe Tilghman’s mother. Those two were still together in 1860.

In 1870, Elizabeth probably has died and Tilghman lived with a family named Peter — the oldest female being Lucy Ann age 37. (I don’t know who she or her husband was. If she was Tilghman’s younger sister, where was she in 1850?)

In 1880, there was a Tilghman Mertz in Siegersville (South Whitehall). He was age 47 and lived with Amanda 32. This has to be Tilghman born in 1816 who would have been 64, I can’t explain the age discrepancy.
Death and Find-a-Grave notes for Tilghman (Spouse 1)
Tilghman wrote his will 14 Apr 1891 and it proved 15 Dec 1892. He owned a very extensive portfolio of rental properties. He named wife Amanda and son Joseph N and daughter Lizzie S, both minors.

His burial record says he was the son of Joseph Mertz and Elizabeth Arner.
