Marr Memo(Gerard Karcher)
Birth, Parent-Proof, Designation notes for Joseph Marts (N1a3)
It is the fact that he lived in Henry County, IN in 1840 where Conrad was last seen in 1830 and his age that makes it seem like he was Conrad’s son.
Moreover, his marriage, in Butler County, OH, strengthens that conclusion as well as reinforces the idea that we have correctly tracked this family as they moved from place to place.
He is designated N1a3.
Relocated and Census Tracking notes for Joseph Marts (N1a3)
1840. He first appeared in Census in Henry County, IN and was still there in 1850.
And then he moved by 1860 to Hancock County, IN and then by 1870 to Shelby County.
Death and Find-a-Grave notes for Joseph Marts (N1a3)
After tracking him to Shelby County and confirming it was the same Joseph by the carry-through of other names in his household from Census to Census, I was able to find him on find-a-grave.
Known Daughters notes for Joseph Marts (N1a3)
Joseph and Elizabeth are linked on find-a-grave to their daughter Filena, buried in the same cemetery, born, according to her tombstone, in Mar 1850. Filena was a new-born in the 1850 Census in Henry County, with her parents in 1860 in Hancock County and then buried in the same cemetery in Shelby County — she is a totally compelling carry-through.
Known Sons notes for Joseph Marts (N1a3)
From Census, he had at least five sons, three born prior to the 1850 Census and therefore I have tried to track them further:
N1a2a George W born 1844
N1a2b William J born 1845
N1a2c John W born 1847
