Erastus had only one son born before 1850, John W. John W died in the Civil War, never married and never lived on his own so he is not designated.
John W has two find-a-grave memorials. His dates and the fact that he is buried at the Vicksburg National Cemetery is inscribed on one face of his parents tombstone in Ohio.
But he in fact was buried at Vicksburg and there is a memorial for him there. The problem is his Vicksburg memorial is linked to his Aunt Catherine as if she was his mother and since her son Martin is also linked to her, it makes it seem like John W was Martin’s brother — he was his cousin.

Erastus married Grace Catherine Cowan 21 Aug 1836, daughter of Jacob Cowan and Susannah Pickering according to the Thomas Looker book. Susannah was a descendant of Thomas Looker.
