Birth, Parent-Proof, Designation notes for Abraham Martz (S3b)
We know Abraham as the son of Samuel from the 1851 land partition and from the Thomas Looker book. He is designated S3b.
Relocated and Census Tracking notes for Abraham Martz (S3b)
The Rockingham Martz tree says Abraham moved to and died in Wapello County, IA. He was still in Rockingham in 1830, then in IA in 1850, so where was he in 1840?

There was an Abraham in Licking County, OH who I otherwise can’t account for in 1840. Could it be this Abraham? The answer I think emerges from examination of the birth places of Abraham’s children in 1850. The oldest, born 1823, was born in Virginia, the next two, born 1834 and 1838, in Ohio, the next one, born 1843, in Missouri and the youngest, born 1848, in Iowa. I think Abraham briefly of Licking County was this Abraham. The presence of his brothers in Licking County at about that time helps make the case.
Death and Find-a-Grave notes for Abraham Martz (S3b)
Abraham and his wife are on find-a-grave.
Known Daughters notes for Abraham Martz (S3b)
In the 1870 Census, living with Abraham and Ruth was Elizabeth Pittington and her children. Elizabeth was their daughter. She had married Sylvester Pittington back in Ohio in 1842. I have a feeling Sylvester and Elizabeth were some kind of cousins.
Known Sons notes for Abraham Martz (S3b)
Sons John and Nathaniel are liked to Abraham on find-a-grave. From the 1850 Census, there was also a son Samuel.
Parent-Proof notes for Ruth (Spouse 1)
Abraham married Ruth Pittington 24 Aug 1822 in Rockingham County according to the Thomas Looker book, which also says she was the daughter of John Pittington.

John was the second husband of Elizabeth Looker so therefore his children by Elizabeth are all Thomas Looker’s descendants. Ruth Pittington was some kind of cousin/relative of Abraham’s mother.

Abraham’s marriage, however, is documented in two Virginia Marriage databases and one gives the date as 20 Aug 1822 and the other 29 Aug 1823 and both give her name as Ruth Pitt.

After studying the Thomas Looker book a little more, I have concluded that the Pittington family may have been Pitt originally and/or may at times have simplified their name from Pittington to Pitt.

John Pittington’s son, John Jackson, seemed to alternate in Census which between Pitt and Pittington.
