Parent-Proof notes for Charles (Spouse 1)
There is an IGI record documenting the birth of Charles Remphrey to William and Harriett in Cornwal, England. It very well could be this Charles but I can’t say I know exactly how to verify that.

My Comments notes for Charles (Spouse 1)
William Remphrey was the son of Charles Remphrey and Angelina who came from England to the Upper Peninsula (Houghton County) of Michigan in about 1875. Charles and then his son William were miners, but it may have been either iron ore or copper which brought them to Michigan but clearly coal which then later brought them to Wilkes-Barre.
I am fairly certain that Charles and Angelina came from the Redruth District of Cornwall, England. For one thing, many persons emigrated from Cornwall to Houghton County about when Charles did. And there was indeed a Charles Remphrey born there 25 Jun 1837 who married Angelina Bennetts there in 1864 and who were the parents of Arthur Charles Remphrey born there in 1873.
I always try to find something specific that links a man born one place to a man of the same name later living somewhere else. In this case, the issue is how to prove that Charles of Cornwall was Charles of Michigan? But I think it is clear they were. In the 1880 Census, we find Arthur, of the right age, living in Michigan with parents Charles and Angelina Remphrey and brother William and there is an Arthur C Remphrey (1873-1928) buried in Wilkes-Barre. Everything fits like a glove.
