NameThomas Talbott
My Comments notes for Thomas Talbott
The fact that Thomas and Benjamin were named as next of kin when John Jr. died leads to the presumption that they were his brothers and thus Mary’s brother too.
So that leads to the conclusion that the Thomas Talbott who witnessed the deed by which Blois and Mary Wright conveyed Hickory Ridge to Nathan Johnson must have been Mary’s brother.
There was, though, a Thomas Talbott who married Belinda Slade in 1766 at St. John’s/St. George’s Parish and wouldn’t there be a sort of symmetry to think he was the brother of Edward who married Margaret Slade? But he wasn’t. Edmund Slade Jr. had a son Thomas too and the names of his grandchildren in Edmund’s will matched the names of Thomas Talbott’s children (whose widow was Belinda) in his will.
So the mention of Thomas Talbott in conjunction with Blois and Mary may not be conclusive. Which Thomas was it?
