Parent-Proof notes for Rosetta (Spouse 1)
In 2016, I heard from Bill Roadarmel about Rosetta as follows:

“I have been searching for years for my GGM, Rosetta Landau, but found nothing.  My first reference is the 1870 census where Rose Landaw is 16 years old and listed as a domestic servant with Wm and Anna Burnside.  I always assumed that she was in the 1860 census but didn't recognize anything I could use.

We were in Salt Lake City on an Ancestry search tour.  With some help from the staff, we found Rosa Landols in the 1860 census.  I never connected that mis-spelling to the name I was looking for.

Her parents are William Landaw and Elizabeth (Keihl).  In the  Sunbury American 17 Jun 1848 is a wedding announcement for William Landaw and Elizabeth Keihl.  They appear in the 1850 census.  In the 1860 census, they are living with Elizabeth Anter (Antis), childen Mary, Susan and Rosa.  Also Harriet Keil (maybe Elizabeth’s sister?).  He is listed as a shoemaker.

William Landaw fought in the Civil War.  He was in the 202 Reg., Company I, mustered in 1 Sep 1864 and died in Danville 24 Jun 1865 (possibly home on sick leave, possibly died of Typhus).  I found his Civil War Death notice.

In Fold3, we found a deposition for widows pension by Martha J Landaw  (Antis, Rank), 19 Oct 1898 in Michigan. It looks quite long. but she states she married William on 20 Oct 1863 in Danville.  They had a daughter Jenny.  Children by William’s first wife are Susan Landaw and Rosetta Landaw, born 28 March 1854.  That fits our Rosetta.

I haven’t had time to find much more.  Elizabeth was alive in 1860 and Martha appears in 1863.  What happened to Elizabeth between 1860 and 1863?  What about William?  I would expect a news article about his service or military funeral.  We didn't find it.  Maybe on another visit.”
