My Comments notes for Catherine Pennypacker
When Valentine Haas and wife Catharina baptized daughter Elisabeth in 1765, the sponsor was Henrich Pannebecker and Susanna. The Pennypackers were not named often in the records of Augustus Lutheran -- perhaps they continued in their Mennonite faith into the second generation -- so this instance is significant. This was Catharina’s brother and serves as one more evidence of the close relationship between the Haas and Pennypacker families.
Parent-Proof notes for John Valentine (Spouse 1)
His baptism was documented at Augustus Lutheran Church.
My Comments notes for John Valentine (Spouse 1)
When Sarah Haas married in 1788, the church record said that her father Valentine was deceased.
Children Names notes for John Valentine (Spouse 1)
Valentine and his brother Henry married sisters. Valentine and Henry both named sons Valentine and Henry and those younger sons have all the same ancestors so deeds involving land passed down through the family can become quite confusing.
For example, in 1793, Henry Haas of Berks County sold land in Montgomery County that he had acquired from his fellow heirs of his father, Valentine, deceased. Henry was Valentine’s eldest son, the other heirs were: Elizabeth, Valentine and Sarah.
