His biography was given in a Baltimore County history book which stated his date of birth and maiden name of his mother and also mentioned his grandparents briefly: “Jesse was born in Holland, came to America at age 17, was a soldier of the Revolution, married Ellen Hurst. She was a native of England and she owned the farm that remains in the family today and is where she died.” It further says Jesse was a Baptist.
