My Comments notes for Minnie Mae Mertz
The saga of how I have pieced this family together is fascinating. It started with the Sue Renkert inquiry. And that led to the identification of Kate and Isaac and a few of their daughters including Mary who married Hiram Parker. But later and quite separately, I heard from Dorothy Kimchuk who writes: “The 1910 Census shows George W Kelley and wife Minnie Mae (Mertz). Minnie’s sister Mary E (Mertz) Parker was married to Hiram Parker and lived in Milton in the 1910 and 1920 Census. My Grandmother is Edna Mae Kelley d/o George W & Minnie Mae Mertz.”
Mary E, wife of Hiram Parker, is the central figure here. Dorothy says she was Minnie Mae’s sister. Sue cites her obituary saying she was the daughter of Isaac and Kate Gemberling and finding the various Census listings seems to bear this out.
