My Comments notes for Howard J Engle
Floyd identifies the husband of Laura Deppen as Howard J Engle and that is his name in each and every Census from 1900 on by which time he has married. But he is not to be found under that name in 1880 and the only and best candidate to be him is John H Engle s/o Daniel H and Emma J Engle. But that is not proven and there is no other clue to help make the case.
Census History notes for Laura A (Spouse 1)
1900. Howard Engle Aug 1874 married 5 years is a saloon keeper in Jackson Twp, North'd Co and lives with Anna L Dec 1871, Lawrence E Dec 1895, George D Jul 1897 and Mildred L Mar 1899.
1910. Howard J Engle and wife Laura A both born 1872 live in Herndon, PA right next door to Laura's father George Deppen. They have been married 15 years and have 5 children -- whose names are very difficult to read but appear to be: Lawrence G 14, George 12, Mildred L 10, Ernest 6 and Betty 2.
She and Howard have three sons and two daughters, only one son marries by 1930 and possibly both daughters. I lose track of both daughters, but in 1930 all of Howard and Laura's sons live with them in Allentown (where they moved from Herndon sometime after 1920). The one son who had married -- Lawrence -- had three sons in the 1920 Census, but by 1930 only one son and a daughter born just after 1920 are living with him. I do not know what happened to the rest of Lawrence's family.

Howard J Engle age 45 a block (?) operator on a steam rail road lives in Herndon with wife Laura A age 48 and George S 22, Mildred L 20, Ernest C 16, Nettie I 11 and Howard's brother-in-law Harry C Deppen 45. Harry is a salesman of flour and grain (family business), Mildred works in a department store and I cannot read George's occupation.
1930. Howard J Engle 55 a merchant at a grocery lives in Allentown, Lehigh Co, PA with wife Laura A 58 and Lawrence E 34 salesman in a grocery store, George H 32 line-type operator in a publishing company, Ernest C 26 manager of A&P store and also Robert C age 11 grandson and Jean K 10 granddaughter.

Research notes for Laura A (Spouse 1)
Laura Deppen who marries Howard J Engle is listed by Floyd as the second oldest (apparently) child of George and Mary Deppen, and indeed Howard's wife in the 1900-1930 Census is typically Laura A (and once Anna L) -- so I am certain she is one and the same as the daughter (mistakenly I believe) named Sarah -- the same age as Laura and the second oldest child of George and Mary -- in the 1880 Census.
