George W served as administrator of the estate of Jacob Berlet and there is an 1890 release by George Royer, guardian of Ada E Berlet, for settlement of Jacob’s estate. At the same time, a release was also filed by Pheobe A Berlet, widow of Jacob.

George also was the administrator of the 1886 estate of Geroge Diehl.

At first I thought both of these referred to our ancestor George W (grandma’s father) but upon reflection I think both were referring to George Washington Diehl.

Jim Deihl, a descendant, sent me the obit for George W and a death notice for Rebecca. George’s obituary in the Mifflinburg Telegraph said he was a Civil War Veteran and that he was survived by his children: Harry, Minnie, John and Edward living locally; James and David living elsehwere in PA and Charles of Bellevue, OH.

George Washington married the sister of the wife of his brother.

I have been in email contact with Jim Diehl, who is the great-grandson of Charles Nolan Diehl, one of George Washington’s many sons. Jim is my fourth cousin and he sent me an article from “History of Sandusky County” saying that Charles Nolan was a blacksmith and came to Sandusky County in about 1898. Jim has also filled me in on some important details about the life of George Washington.

She was mentioned in her father’s will and listed in the 1850 Census.

her death certificate gives her mother’s name as Carrie Hartman, born PA.

Rebecca and her sister Rachel married brothers, George Washington Diehl and William H Diehl.
