Census History notes for Henry Hummel
1800. Henry Hummel age 45+ lives in Penns Twp, North’d Co. A neighbor is George Hummel also age 45+. And also listed in Penns are Jacob Hummel 45+ and Frederick 26-45. Since all the “H” names are grouped together, it may be erroneous to speculate on the small separation between the George/Henry pair and the Jacob/Frederick pair -- but I wonder if already George and Henry might not be in the Middlecreek area while Jacob and Frederick are in the Hummels Wharf area -- all of which would have been Penns in 1800. This makes me also speculate that Henry is George’s brother.

1810. I believe this same Henry is in Centre Township age 45+. I believe in fact he was already in what would become Centre Township in 1800.

1820. This is not the Henry Hummel of 1800 and 1810, but a younger one. This one must be the son of George Adam. He lives in Centre Twp, is age 26-45 and has 3 males under 10.

1820. There is also a Henry Hummel age 45+ in Perry Twp with 1 younger male and with a neighbor Jonas Hummel age 26-45. Meiser says that this Perry (later Chapman) Twp family -- including Jonas’ brothers George and Daniel who emerge on their own by 1830 -- is none other than Henry son of George Adam. I don’t know if I agree with that -- since if that is true, who is the other, younger Henry in Centre Twp in 1820? But I leave all these Henry’s here, that may be three different Henry’s, consolidated with all the Henry sightings in one place.

1830. Henry of Perry has died, his widow is listed and sons Jonas, George and Daniel are neighbors.

1840. Jonas, Daniel and George are listed. This is the last appearance of Jonas. In Wagenseller, a John Hommel is buried at St Johns, West Beaver Twp died 30 Nov 1848 age 47y 7m -- is this Jonas? He would have been 19 in 1820, old enough to be his own household and perhaps his age was misreported.

My Comments notes for Henry Hummel
There was a Henry Hummel living in Union Co in 1800 and 1810, age 45+. Who else can he be but a brother of George Adam? He is too old to be his son.

But then a different, younger Henry appears by 1820 and this one later moves to Beaver Township. I believe he was the son of George Adam.
