Birth, Parent-Proof, Designation notes for George Martz (P2f)
We know George was a son of David from his brother David’s will. George was one of the seven equal heirs — David’s seven brothers and sisters or their respective heirs. His presence in Germantown, Montgomery County, where several of his brothers and sisters also settled locks it all together. George is designated P2f.
Relocated and Census Tracking notes for George Martz (P2f)
George never seems to have lived on his own. The only time George was named in Census was 1850, he was living with Peter. In 1840, he was no doubt also living with a brother.
A letter from the grand-nephew of these Mertzes of Montgomery County indicates that at some time one of them was blind. It says he was still alive in 1855. George was the only one still alive in 1855 and taken together with the fact of not living on his own makes it clear, I think, George was the blind one.
I don’t know if it was a life-long affliction.
