III. Henry (Harry) Lee was born May 22, 1597 in Oswestry and died in 1657 in York, Virginia. He married before 1617 in England; his wife“s name is unknown. He came to York County, Virginia in 1636. He and his brother Colonel Richard Lee conducted business in Nansemond and Norfolk counties as early as 1636. He was a Burgess for York County in 1652.

This brother, Richard, was born in 1608 in England and died in 1664 in Northumberland, Virginia. He is said to have been the first white man to settle in the Northern Neck of Virginia. He was a direct ancestor of Robert E Lee“s family
