Joseph Meredith left Wales in 1710 and some of his adventures are recorded in a little notebook which has survived but which is largely unreadable due to its age and the language problems. He apparently came to Nansemond County, Virginia and received land for the importation of Eliza Arnull, Sarah Arnull and Ananias Arnull. The author of the biography I have seen believes that Eliza was the bride-to-be of Joseph and that Ananias and Sarah were her parents. Many others of the Meredith family immigrated to Philadelphia and then moved on to the Cape Fear area but Joseph and a presumed relative named Sampson appear to have instead gone first to Virginia.

He was at one point Constable of the Welsh Tract.
