Various wills and estate documents tie

Bill Pearce cites the 25 Dec 1734 will of Francis Brown proved 5 April 1735 names daughter Penelope. The 11 Oct 1722 will of Frances Loften proved 20 Nov 1722 mentions son-in-law Francis Brown. The will of John Lofton was administered by Francis Brown and wife Ruth her together with her husband Francis Brown, to her brother John and to her mother Frances.
My Comments notes for 6G/7G GM Ruth Loftin
Her name, as best I can tell, appears only once in official records and that was in the will of John Loftin, presumed to be her brother. She and her husband were named as administrators of his estate. His will and estate records showed connections with other persons named in the will of Frances Loftin, seemingly his other brothers and sisters.

We can estimate her year of birth since she was old enough to have married Francis before her mother’s death in 1722. We know that Francis was born in about 1693, so Ruth was probably born in 1695-1700 or so. She was not named in her husband’s will, so likely pre-deceased him.
Parent-Proof notes for Francis (Spouse 1)
Like all these people of Charles County, it is a series of wills and the familial connections implied by them, that show that Francis was the son of William and Mary.

The will of Mary Brown which proved 21 Jan 1701 bequeathed to son William personalty. She mentioned son-in-law Samuel Feirson and left the residue of her estate in trust for sons John and Francis. She also mentioned daughter Sarah wife of John Shaw and Ann wife of Giles Tompkins.

The idea that Mary was the widow of William Brown comes from the fact that they together were named as the guardians of the children of Richard Smoot who died in Charles County in 1676. Mary, at the time, though, was said to have been the widow of Walter Davis -- meaning she may have been William Brown’s second wife and not necessarily the mother of his children and some of the daughters especially she mentioned in her will may have been by her first marriage.
My Comments notes for Francis (Spouse 1)
We actually know his age because he was a deponent in Charles County in 1732 and was age 39 at the time, so he was born about 1693.

The will of Mary Brown proved 21 Jan 1701. To son William personalty. She mentioned son-in-law Samuel Feirson and left the residue of her estate in trust for sons John and Francis. She also mentioned daughter Sarah wife of John Shaw and Ann wife of Giles Tompkins.
