Children Names notes for Elizabeth Bahner
Daniel and Elizabeth had a number of daughters who in some cases married quite young (about 16 or 17) and in other cases seem to have had children by fathers they did not marry and then later married a husband with a different surname than their children. These daughters and their children have been hard to figure out.

One daughter who married quite young was Catherine Ann and she married Samuel Martz and they were the ancestors of George Amerman, which explains how Yank Amerman is our cousin in two different ways -- and a third way too because Yank’s mother was descended from the Hummels.

Research notes for Daniel F (Spouse 1)
The will of Daniel Hilbish is documented on LDS film 961025. It was written 22 Nov 1884 proved 18 Feb 1885. It says in part: “To my Grandson Henry M. Wagner one share, Benjamin Hilbish one share, Catharine Ann now intermarried with Samuel Martz one share, Mary now intermarried with Levi Hertzog one share, Hannah now intermarried with William H. Triebley one share, and Sarah now intermarried with John H. Brosius one share. These being all my children except the first named Henry M. Wagner who is my grand son the same, to be divided among all of the above named share and share alike."
My Comments notes for Daniel F (Spouse 1)
A review of Daniel’s Census history shows a pattern of young children (I call them “orphans”) of different surnames showing up in his household, at times called his grandchildren.

For example: in 1870 we find two “orphan’s” -- Henry M Wagner 6 and Agnes S Startzler 1. And in 1880, Henry Wagner 16, Bessie Leak 8 and George Shultzbach 1 are all described as his grandchildren. Agnes is no longer present with Daniel but must be the Agnes age 11 living with Hannah and her husband William Treibley and described as Hanah’s daughter. They also have a son named Luther.

In 1884, Daniel wrote his will. He named all 5 of his children who were all still alive and we learn that by that time Mary had married Levi Herzog. However, he only names one “orphan” -- Henry Wagner who he said is his grandson. Agnes was presumably still with Hannah, so where were the other two “orphan’s”?

I cannot find Mary or Sarah in 1900. Catharine is with Samuel. Benjamin is with Mary. Hannah is with William. Henry Wagner is married (in 1884) and he and his wife have a slew of kids including one named Luther M born 1885. The name Luther seems to have becomcome from?
