Obituary in BAL Co Democrat. Ayers, Mrs. William (nee Slade) died 9 Aug 1898. Ayers, Mrs. A very sad death took place near Black Horse on last Tuesday. The victim of the fell destroyer was Mrs. Ayers, the beloved wife of Mr. William Ayers. She was 43 years and 6 months old, and before marriage was a Miss Slade, daughter of Mr. Christopher Slade. Mrs. Ayers was a woman beloved by all who knew her. Her funeral took place on the Thursday following, at McKendree, Rev. G. H. Martin officiating.
