Parent-Proof notes for Johannes Hummel
At Moselem, Johannes Hummel son of Johann Jacob and Elisabetha born 31 Jul 1782 was baptized 25 Aug with sponsors Johannes Hummel and Magdalena Hafnerin. The sponsors were Jacob’s brother and Elisabetha’s sister. I also found a death certificate for him at Union County Court House (quite a rare document to find for anyone before about 1900). It too says he was born in Berks County, son of Jacob Hummel and Elizabeth.
Discrepant Facts notes for Johannes Hummel
There is a small discrepancy as it relates to Johannes’ birth date. His baptism record says 30 Jul 1782. Joseph Meiser said 10 Jul 1782. And his death certificate says 30 Jul 1782. No matter really.

And there is another discrepancy as to where he is buried. There is a memorial for him on find-a-grave complete with a photo of his tombstone showing his burial at the Lewisburg Cemetery. But my notes say he was to be buried at St Peters in White Deer Twp, Union County. My notes say I got his birth and death dates from his death certificate (he died in that brief period of time in the early 1850’s when some counties filed death certificates) and I suspect that is where I got the St Peter’s information.

My Comments notes for Johannes Hummel
Johannes was the progenitor of the Kelly Township line. A local county history said he came with his parents to Hummel's Wharf but later returned to Berks County, married Catherine Weary, had Sarah and Jacob (later a Judge) there and then in 1808 came back to Hummels Wharf and then in 1813 moved to Kelly Township. Ella Rossiter says the father purchased a farm for his son, John, in White Deer. He moved there with his family.
