A Johannes was baptized 5 Feb 1725, as well it seems a Johannes baptized 20 Sep 1722 at Deidendorf. A son Johannes died 25 Apr 1730. I’m not sure how to explain the apparent mutliple baptisms, but in any event I think no son Johannes survived to make the trip to America.

Burgert cites the baptism of Johannes in the Diedendorf Reformed KirchenBuch (Church Book) in Alsace and I have gone and found that source myself. It says (in German): ”1722 -- 20 September — [two unreadable words] David Mertz from Hangeviller frau Frena Schneiderin. Infant Johannes.”
But Johannes was not named on what appears to be a complete listing of passengers on the ship Richard and Elizabeth in 1733, so my assumption is that he died young before the family emigrated.
