She was mentioned in her father's 1803 will and her baptism was recorded at Longswamp.
My Comments notes for Anna Eva Mertz
Justin Houser descends from Anna Eva and Nicholas Arbogast. He recounted to me that “even with Anna Eva I had quite a time because people thought that Nichlolas Arbogast had two wives; Anna Eva Mertz, and then a Sabina who is supposedly buried next to him. Then I discovered that the date of birth for Sabina, as given on her gravestone, matched exactly with that of Anna Eva given in the Longswamp Church records. But it also turns out that her tombstone clearly says Eva. Sabina was just made up and appears to be someone's misreading of her stone. It always pays to go back to the source.” There is a photo of Eva’s tombstone on find-a-grave and I guess I can see that someone may have mis-read it as Sba from which they made the leap to Sabina. Justin is absolutely right that you can never be too thorough.
