I have been in touch with Ann Mertz (my much younger second cousin, raised in North'd), daughter of John Oakley Mertz (called Jack) who was the son of Byron Mertz and clearly named for his older brother. She has helped me document this branch of the family and sent me a wonderful picture of John Philip and Anna Rebecca and their grown children.

And I have also corresponded with Jaimie Lee Mertz who found my website and she provided me with a lot of the information on the Shamokin branch of the Byron Mertz family -- Joseph Richard Mertz and his descendants.
