Parent-Proof notes for Margaret Kessler
A listing of New Berlin Cemetery records listed out by Charles Morgan was found at the Snyder County Historical Society by Valerie Mertz. It was Charles Morgan, apparently, who annotated the information that Margaret, wife of Samuel, was the daughter of Frederick and Catharine Maurer. For a long time, I had no better idea and that’s what I was willing to believe. But I now think that is wrong.
The death certificates of both Margaret’s oldest daughter Harriett and youngest daughter Henrietta both say their mother was Margaret Kessler. That seems conclusive.

Birth, Parent-Proof, Designation notes for Samuel (Spouse 1)
This Samuel appeared in the 1830 Census. He was not Samuel, the son of Nicholas, as that older Samuel lived in Middleburg. Since this Samuel lived in New Berlin, where Isaac lived, logic would place him as the son of Isaac. When Isaac died intestate, Samuel was appointed as one of three Administrators. I therefore believe that Samuel must have been the son of Isaac.
He is designated P5a2.
Relocated and Census Tracking notes for Samuel (Spouse 1)
Samuel was always in New Berlin in Census, 1830-1870.

Death and Find-a-Grave notes for Samuel (Spouse 1)
In his will dated 11 Apr 1871, he named his wife Margaret, two sons and four daughters. He also made provision for his brother Henry who "has no home ..shall be kept by my children to go to the one he chooses". He also bequeathed $100 to W B Irwin, who "lives with us" when he comes of age, in the meantime to be held by Charles Aurand.
Samuel is on find-a-grave. There was no photo of the tombstone there but I had one of my own I added and then added dates for Samuel.
