Well this is very curious. I somewhere added the information that Franklin Mertz married Lydia Krause to my FTM file and then later realized that he only lived to age 1, so that didn't happen. But Lydia Krause, whose birth date I did have as 1854 turns out to be connected to this family somehow. She dies as Lydia Krouse Mertz of Freeburg, b.1854 and is found living with John P Mertz after her father dies and her mother appears to remarry but not take all her children with her and then in 1880 Lydia is said to be the adopted daughter of John P.
