1830. Petter Mertz and wife age 40-50 live in Perry Twp, Union Co. But I have another extraneous Peter in this Census in Washington Twp. This one is age 50-60 with a wife 40-50 and 1 younger male and 1 younger female. So now I have too many men named Peter.

My Comments notes for Peter (Spouse 1)
This is my mystery man. Jack Mertz said that Philip's daughter Anna Mary married Peter Mertz, but he did not say anything about Peter's ancestry. Anna Mary had a cousin named Peter (son of Nicholas of Middleburg) but I believe he was the Peter who moved to Ohio and later Indiana. But he certainly was of the right age and in the right place.
